Now more than ever, camps need leaders who have the courage to help transform their organizations into spaces that are inclusive, equitable and accessible for colleagues and campers. Leaders are needed who are willing to challenge convention and their own limiting beliefs to enact the kind of progressive change that redefines what camp can be and who it can serve. Well … you are one of those leaders, and your camp needs you to step up and activate personal courage to effect organizational change.
In this program, speaker and coach Candace Doby helps participants confront social and racial equity challenges in their organizations through the lens of courage. She dives into the process of courage over three sessions to give appropriate attention to understanding it, developing it and leveraging it.
Participants will leave the program with a shift in perspective from risks to resources and problems to possibilities. They will also be able to clarify values that support a strong motivation for action, personally evaluate which components of courage are most reliable, and commit to taking more worthwhile risks to create organizational change.
Each participant will receive a digital workbook for the program that will serve as a resource they can refer back to again and again.
Please plan to attend all 3 sessions. They will be 90 minutes each.

Candace Doby is an Atlanta-based speaker, author and advisor who works with universities and organizations to help young leaders build courage in themselves to have hard conversations, navigate through uncertainty and lead with authenticity.
Candace combines a decade of research on courage with her experiences leading marketing teams at Chipotle Mexican Grill and solo traveling to more than 20 countries. This unique combination equips her with the implementable strategies she shares with audiences to help them understand, develop and activate personal courage.
Candace is known for delivering those strategies with appropriate attitude to match the realness of courage, which prompts clients to refer to her in-person and virtual presence as “captivating”. She has worked with clients such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Georgia, State University of New York, National Society of Leadership and Success, Cornerstone Credit Union League, YMCA, American Camp Association and many others.
In her own acts of courage, Candace wrote her first book, If Courage Could Talk, to offer readers a compelling entry point into intentional conversations about conjuring their courage. She launched the greeting card and gift company Pep Talker to help customers share motivation with people around them, and she quit a successful marketing career to pursue her vision of making courage fun to talk about and easy to digest for young leaders everywhere.
Candace holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and a master’s degree in Technology and Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a former collegiate track and field athlete.
