Successfully submitting the required documentation and match funds for bills speed up the process for camps to be paid. The #1 reason for delays in payments is due to camps submitting incorrect or incomplete paperwork.

This is how to accurately prepare and complete all forms and documents associated with submitting a complete bill - billing spreadsheet, camper registration form, camper report form, and language form.

    Who should attend?

The person who will be completing any of the documents listed above and submitting them for reimbursement. This may include the Office Manager/Registrar, Bookkeeper/Finance Director, Camp/Program Director, and/or Unit Directors depending on your organizational structure.

    Why attend?

The #1 reason for camps not receiving partial or full funding they were allocated is due to incomplete or incorrect documentation and/or missing deadlines, particularly around billing. 1- 1:50PM: This Is Not That: Guiding Staff On A Journey From The Ordinary World To The Extraordinary Camp World

2- 2:50PM: The Telephone Game for Learning Group Games: Calling All Staff to Have the Opportunity to Lead

        Session Descriptions:

A Training Smorgasbord: A Buffet of Ideas to Engage Your Staff in the Learning Process

You are cordially invited to a training smorgasbord guaranteed to satisfy a hearty appetite! This metaphorical buffet will offer a sample of "appetizers" (ways to get staff ready to learn), a 3-course "meal" (including brain-friendly techniques to present training topics and incorporate movement/visual aids to enhance learning), and a selection of "desserts" (ways to put a flavorful end to training sessions).

Come hungry and leave with ideas (doggie bag included) that will engage your staff in the learning process (even if attention spans are short) while indulging them with training methods that will improve retention of critical information. The success of your summer depends on the intentionality of your staff training!

This Is Not That: Guiding Staff On A Journey From The Ordinary World To The Extraordinary Camp World

Even the best possible design and presentation of all the things staff need to know to do their job, in the end, fall short. There is a growing concern that staff are not "mature enough" or "ready" to implement the skills being taught and take on the demands of working with youth at camp. To truly “orient” staff demands more than just games, skills and stories- it requires experiences that are transformative. Learn how to create meaningful experiences in various locations at camp so staff associate being there as something impactful and special. This is the groundwork for the maturity and readiness that is foundational for camp’s magic to unfold.

The Telephone Game for Learning Group Games: Calling All Staff to Have the Opportunity to Lead

In theory, the group games rotation that is standard to most orientation training should give staff the opportunity to learn a lot of games in a short period of time. What really happens is that staff are exposed to a bunch of games; however, the recall rate when the campers arrive is low. Why?! The group leaders get really good at the one game they teach; however, the learning is passive at best for the rest of the participants. Not this summer! Transform your games rotation into one giant telephone game and call ALL staff to have the opportunity to lead.

        Who Should Attend?

This program is ideal for anyone who leads staff themselves, or who trains members of the Leadership Team on how to supervise others. It will be great for both new and experienced people.

        Why Attend?

How will your camp benefit from you attending this program?

This course was developed to meet the needs of camp directors and owners who were looking for a place to send Leadership Team members so that they will get and practice the skills necessary for supervision success. A lot of new Leadership Team members get promoted from front-line positions but may not have much if any experience in leading peers and others. Experienced Leadership Team members need fresh, advanced skills to keep them motivated and challenged in positive ways. To train all of these people, you require an excellent curriculum of the skills they’ll need and effective ways to teach them in an effective, motivating, and highly engaging way. This course provides that.

How does your career benefit from you attending this program?

If you’re a director, it gives you a way to support the most important people at camp. The Leadership Team is the engine that drives camp to success. If you’re a member of the Leadership Team, you’ll get specific, practical tools and techniques you can use every day to be one of the stars of your camp and bring out the best in everyone. And these methods will qualify you throughout your life as you develop positive working relationships as a leader and manager of others.

Failure to submit your bill properly will result in rejection of your request. Help yourself and avoid frustration by ensuring you have a clear understanding of what is required to submit a bill.
